Read when your family member is a doctor or nurse
We hope you are safe and sound and
are taking all necessary precautions during these hard times. These are testing
times and will hopefully pass soon. The situation worsens when your family
member is a doctor or a nurse serving the Covid patients. You lay down in your
bed thinking of them and constantly praying that everything is alright. Every
day when they leave to examine the patients, you find excuses to stop them from
going, when deep inside you know they have to work every day to create a
positive atmosphere for their patients in this chaos. Being a physician is
difficult, you realize slowly. Being their family member, even more so.
It is in the time of crisis, that we
realise that all frontline workers who are helping us and risking their own lives
in such perilous times are like angels sent by God. All our helpers who are
there in the background, be it doctors, nurses, policemen, delivery persons or
even the garbage pickers, are playing a huge role in keeping us and our loved
ones safe. It is due to these selfless acts that many people have recovered
from the virus and didn’t have to sacrifice their health, safety and security.
These times are really tough and
everyone’s going through a lot but it shouldn’t be the end of the world for you.
This is a time when everyone is trying to help each other out and solve
problems together. We all are fighting this war against Covid-19 together. Try
to create an aura of optimism and hope around you and remember that this time shall
pass too. Elbert Hubbard once said “Positive anything is better than a negative
nothing.” Try to see the better side, more people are recovering, the curve is
decreasing, people are getting vaccinated and soon this will all come to an end.
You’re
lonely, down in the dumps, and it feels like this heaviness will weigh you
down forever. Remember that feelings are visitors. They come and they go. Just
take a deep breath and think to yourself “Things will get better and I will be
okay.” Even if you think things are getting worse, it’s alright. After all, it
is said that the sky is the darkest just before the dawn. Things will be better
and you’ll be leaving the darkness behind.
Ships
don’t sink because of the water surrounding them; ships sink because of the
water that gets inside them. Similarly, don’t let what’s happening around you,
trouble you on the inside and weigh you down. You need to be courageous; having
courage does not mean you don’t get afraid, having courage means you don’t let
your fear stop you. In the end everything going to be fine.
