Read when you lose a loved one
"Death is inevitable” That’s what the
logical part of your brain will say. It’s not easy, even heartbreaking, to lose
a family member. You might have thoughts like – “Why them??” It could have been
an accident where they could have lost their life or they could have died in
any other circumstances, where you wouldn’t have been able to do anything. Uncertainty
is the only constant in life.
Don't repent for their death, thinking you
could have done more. You did your best, don’t blame yourself. They may be hurt
if they watch you lament over their absence. If you loved them dearly then be accepting.
Remember your acceptance will make them content, wherever they are. Be the
reason for someone's happiness. Their blessings will help you feel better.
Keeping them alive in your thoughts that will be the best last gift you could
have given them.
The first step in overcoming grief is
difficult but not impossible. Recall all the best moments you have spent with
him, relish those moments and relive those golden memories.
Follow the three R rule – Recall ,Relish, Relive.
The pain will eventually subside. Loss and
grief cannot be rushed, take all the time you need. Be kind to yourself in
these trying times.
As hard as it might be, offer your support to
your extended family. Make sure they’re alright as well. Ensure that you
support organizations that are working towards Covid relief, to show your
empathy to all those patients out there. Make it your way to express and process
your grief.
Lastly, don’t be too harsh on yourself. These
are taxing times- both physically and emotionally- and the loss of a loved one
can be difficult.
