UN World Health Day 2021
Warriors aren’t always found in capes, fighting wars with guns and ammunition. Warriors are everywhere, aiding the world in fighting bigger wars, which may a peril to humanity. One such war is with the COVID-19 Pandemic. 7th April is marked as World Health Day, felicitating the healthcare workers and the founding anniversary of WHO. This year’s World Health Day is different and doesn’t count for celebration. The world faces a challenge that has brought our lives to a halt and shaken the medical and the pharmaceutical industry. But we overcome every challenge with confidence and finesse. The spread of the COVID-19 has caused medical emergencies across the world. But the nurses, the doctors, the midwives and all other healthcare workers took charge in such a tedious situation and buttressed the world by working day and night to fight the pandemic.
The healthcare
workers played a pivotal role and without them, we couldn't have been able to
control the Pandemic. The world is in the grip of the most severe healthcare
crisis of our time. Every day, nurses are putting themselves at risk to
alleviate suffering and save lives. It isn’t just the pandemic patients they
are handling but other patients with ranging issues as well. Our healthcare
workers are doing the implausible, treating patients until their last breath.
It is salient, to invest in healthcare facilities and aid people develop
healthcare skills for as to turn out to be an asset at such laborious times.
COVID-19 is just
another feather to the hat when it comes to healthcare issues. About one
billion people lack healthcare services, 36 Million deaths occur annually
because of non-communicable diseases. Global Health is at risk because of the
spread of widespread diseases. Furthermore, developing countries are at a
disadvantage in terms of reacting to these illnesses due to their high level of
poverty and shortage of education. In particular, cancer, AIDS, and malaria are
considered to be severe diseases in developing countries. Our diet plays a
vital role in determining our health so one should always not intoxicate and
take unhealthy food. Investing in strengthening country health information
systems to improve the timeliness of data could have the greatest positive
impact and is vital for countries to monitor progress.
Looking at the
current situation, our healthcare workers are the ‘messiah' for us. Although
their efforts don’t go unheard, people still fail to scrutinize the intensity
of the situation and go out without following the protocol, uncovered- without
a mask, breaking deterrents and continuing with life as usual. Stringent
actions must be taken against such people to rise them from this slumber. Some
people can lead happier, healthier lives for they have facilities, but the
vulnerable groups are the worst sufferers, they lack healthcare and
opportunities to support themselves. This World Health Day let's commit
ourselves completely to end this pandemic, ensuring everyone has feasible modes
to take care of themselves and provide a haven to everyone!
